Laphlaes' day begins before dawn with a walk through his garden. Some flowers hang their heads low, while others show signs of a desperate struggle to bloom. As he calls each flower by their name, even those that had drooped soon turn toward the sunlight and begin to flourish.

He spends the morning absorbed in pruning and thinning when visitors arrive. These are those who seek counsel from Laphlaes, who once led the First Tower and the Academy. Though he was once fooled by a young elf masquerading as a professor, his reputation as a respected sage remains unchanged.

Few remember the young Laphlaes who was devoted to growth magic. In those days, he sought to change the world by nurturing everything he crossed paths with faster and stronger. Amongst that, he believed the surest method was to invest in the children of the next generation.

The first student he met at the Academy he founded was exceptionally gifted. When Laphlaes kept vigil at his disciple's deathbed with a somewhat weary expression, the student left these final words:

"Please remember their names."

At first, Laphlaes could not understand. He already knew his name. But his disciple was not referring to his own name, but to the names of the ordinary people who followed Laphlaes. The student hoped his indifferent master would not be lonely among these fleeting beings.

Laphlaes planted a flower on his disciple's grave and gave it a name for the first time. Thereafter, whenever he bid farewell to someone, he honored them in the same way. The saplings he began planting in this manner grew into a lush garden. Now he has grown accustomed to treating flowers as equals, a far cry from his days when he overlooked Lumisade from above.

At dusk, he quietly gazes at the flowers that will wilt today and those that will bloom tomorrow. The world moves too fast and is too noisy, so Laphlaes seeks to slow the flow of time within his garden.

He too will someday be buried in this place. But that day lies in the distant future. Until then, Laphlaes will wait with love and patience for each flower as they reach full bloom.
