Before we delve into the tale of this legendary Dragon Knight, there's a surprising piece of her past we must uncover. Once hailed as the world's savior and honored as the guardian of Isola upon her return to her hometown, this knight bears a childhood nickname that defies her heroic stature. Remarkably, this esteemed hero was once known as 'Crybaby Schmitt'.
Born in an inn well into the late hours of the night, baby Helga’s faint cries were enough for anyone to know that she was not a healthy infant at birth. Many were concerned for her well-being, but she defied expectations and became a strong, spirited child. She grew up as into a true Isolan, confidently making the sandy shores and the ocean of Isola her stomping grounds.
But 'Crybaby Schmitt' was an ironic nickname, a term of endearment from those close to her, for she rarely shed a tear. Her eyes remained dry even when her father disappeared during a voyage at sea. She shed no tears when her widowed mother mourned for days on end. Not a single tear fell even when she lost her dearest companion, who was like family to her.
But it wasn't that Helga didn't know how to cry. In fact, Helga did shed her tears in front of one person and—and that person was Rosanna. When Helga returned, worn out and exhausted, Rosanna said nothing. In an air of warm silence, the gently caressed Helga's scarred hand, hugged her tightly, and stroked her emaciated hair. Helga couldn't help but cry, feeling as if the years they had missed were made up for in Rosanna's one embrace. Helga's tears broke Rosanna's heart, and this newly reforged bond was strong enough to last for decade to come.
It is unlikely that we will ever see Helga cry again, for that is her nature. Helga, with her unbreakable spirit, will simply carry on as she always has.
One thing for sure, she will never forget the tears she shed, for those tears have made her who she is and will guide her path forward.
